.30/.50 Cal Traverse and Elevation Mechanism
The .30cal/.50cal T&E traverse and elevation mechanism is used to engage preselected targeted areas at night or during limited visibility conditions. To obtain accurate readings, the T&E has to be zeroed, with all measurements recorded in mils. The T&E mechanism consists of a traversing hand wheel, locking nut, scale, and yoke.
This mechanism allows a smaller caliber machine gun like a .30 caliber to be mounted on a larger caliber weapon platform, potentially providing advantages like increased ammunition capacity or lighter weight.
